The Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP) has issued 255,714 electronic certificates from the end of December 2020, until November 30, 2021, demonstrating the great acceptance that this product has had by its customers.

These documents include: Transitory Certificates (CT’s), certificate of course endorsements, certificates of sufficiency and endorsements of certificates of sufficiency, which is estimated to generate an annual saving to the State of approximately USD$ 217, 357.00. Similarly, some certificates and documentation continue to be issued in the printed format on security paper if the user so requests.
By issuing these certificates and technical documentation of seafarers in electronic format, all the security measures required to guarantee their validity are maintained, administrative processes are streamlined and the process is facilitated for seafarers who are on board Panamanian-flagged vessels that sail worldwide, by processing their documents online, in a transparent and expeditious manner, thanks to the implementation of Resolution ADM-165-2020 of November 11, 2020, which began at the end of December 2020.

These documents have a unique tracking number as well as a quick verification code (QR Code) that allow both seafarers and inspectors to streamline the processes of obtaining and validating the document, complying with the verification, notification and implementation processes established within the Circ. FAL.5/Circ.39.Rev.2.

In this way, the AMP advances in its process of modernization, innovation and digitalization, fundamental elements for the improvement of its operability, at the same time, it contributes to a sustainable maritime transport for a sustainable planet, in this case by promoting and implementing a paperless culture.
