ERODE: In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old girl died after a dupatta accidentally got entangled around her neck at her home in Erode on Wednesday night, police said.
The victim, identified as Deekshana, was the daughter of Ramakrishnan, a truck driver, and Mohanapriya, a homemaker, residents of EBP Nagar.
According to police, the child had been playing outside the house in the evening with her mother’s dupatta wrapped around her neck. When Mohanapriya asked her to get ready for tuition, the girl went inside but did not return for a long time.
Concerned, Mohanapriya went in and found Deekshana unconscious. She was rushed to a government hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Erode North police have launched an investigation into the incident.
