A 35-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel room in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, with police suspecting she was strangled.

The victim, identified as Chandni Devi, was staying at the hotel with a 39-year-old man named Shekhar, who allegedly posed as her husband while booking the room. He is currently absconding.

Police said hotel staff discovered the woman unresponsive inside the room and alerted the management, which informed authorities. She was taken to a government hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed injury marks on her neck, indicating possible strangulation. Police have registered a murder case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are verifying the suspect’s identity documents.

The victim’s husband, who works in Bengaluru, and her family in Bihar have been informed. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.
