A 19-year-old NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh allegedly died by suicide days after appearing for the NEET re-test, with family members attributing the incident to stress linked to the examination.
The deceased, identified as Chanchal Bharti, was a resident of Chaupariya Kanchanpura village and had appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination on June 21, according to her family.
Police said she was found unconscious at her home while family members were engaged in routine work. She was rushed to a district hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
According to police, a NEET question booklet was recovered from the scene along with a handwritten message. Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Nirbhay Singh said the booklet and the note have been seized and will undergo forensic and handwriting analysis as part of the investigation.
Family members described Chanchal as a bright and hardworking student. Her father, a tailor, had continued to support his children’s education despite financial difficulties, they said, adding that the family had high expectations for her future.
The body has been sent for a postmortem examination, and further investigation is underway, police said.
