AGRA: A week following the death of a 32-year-old woman constable stationed at Banna Devi in Aligarh district on November 29, a case of abetment to suicide has been filed against sub-inspector Sandeep Kumar, who is assigned to Kasganj, and constable Kulveer Balyan, who is stationed at Roravar police station. “A case under section 108 (abetment of suicide) has been registered after the woman’s brother claimed that the two were subjecting her to mental torment and harassment, compelling her to take this drastic action,” stated Banna Devi SHO Shiv Pratap Singh. The family asserts that Balyan and the deceased were acquainted, and prior to her death, she had communicated with his family, indicating that they intended to meet as they were contemplating marriage. In his complaint, the brother noted, “She was engaged in work on the Integrated Grievance Redressal System portal at Rorawar police station. Some time ago, she informed us that discussions regarding marriage were ongoing with SI Kumar, who was stationed at Banna Devi. However, he was subsequently transferred to Kasganj, and the matter was thought to be concluded.” “Subsequently, she was reassigned to Rorawar, where she developed a close relationship with Balyan. Balyan became aware that my sister and Kumar had previously discussed marriage. He then approached Kumar, and they began to harass her,” he alleged.
