KANNAUJ — A 15-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district miraculously survived a cobra bite after being administered 76 anti-snake venom injections within two hours at the local district hospital, doctors said Friday.
The boy, Karan, was collecting firewood in Udaipur village when he was bitten. Villagers rushed him to the district hospital on a motorcycle, carrying the dead snake in a box for identification.
Emergency medical officer Dr. Hari Madhav Yadav said the boy’s condition was critical on arrival. “I started with two injections, but there was no improvement. I continued, one every one-and-a-half minutes, until he stabilized. In total, 76 doses were given while ensuring his oxygen levels remained steady.”
Karan, who was initially unresponsive, is now stable and under observation. “He can talk, though he feels drowsy,” his brother said. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
