Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday issued a stark warning, urging residents of Tehran to “immediately evacuate” the city as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to escalate. Trump also criticized Iran for failing to adhere to a nuclear agreement and stated that the country must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.

“Iran should have signed the deal I told them to sign. What a shame, and a waste of human life,” Trump wrote on social media. “Simply stated, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. I’ve said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

The comments came just hours after reports emerged of an Israeli airstrike targeting the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster, and the head of the UN’s nuclear watchdog confirmed significant damage to Iran’s largest uranium enrichment facility.

A White House official at the G7 summit, held in the Canadian Rockies, told CNN that Trump’s statement reflects the urgent need for Iran to engage in diplomatic talks, particularly as the conflict with Israel shows no signs of slowing down. Trump, who is receiving frequent updates from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior advisors, is set to leave the summit ahead of schedule on Monday night to monitor the situation more closely.

Earlier in the day, Vice President JD Vance, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine, and other top aides were spotted at the White House, fueling speculation about a potential U.S. response.

Despite the mounting crisis, Trump has opted not to join other G7 leaders in a joint call for de-escalation. The summit, which was expected to focus on global economic issues, has instead been overshadowed by the intensifying military confrontation between Israel and Iran.

Iran, for its part, has appealed to the United States to help halt the aerial bombardment, which has intensified in recent days. However, Trump’s stance remains firm. He reiterated at the summit that a diplomatic resolution with Iran may be possible soon. “I think Iran is basically at the negotiating table and wants to make a deal,” Trump said. “As soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something.”

While G7 leaders continue to emphasize dialogue and restraint, Trump’s remarks suggest a more aggressive posture, prioritizing pressure over diplomacy as tensions in the Middle East threaten to spiral further out of control.
