MariTrace, a global leader in maritime intelligence and ship-tracking technology, announces its latest strategic partnership with Tamrose, a Nigerian-owned marine logistics and offshore support operator, to protect its entire fleet with advanced vessel tracking.
Effective immediately, Tamrose has deployed fleet-wide installation of Mercury – MariTrace’s next-generation, market-leading maritime tracking device – across 15 vessels. The collaboration sees all Tamrose-operated vessels now equipped with Mercury – MariTrace’s real-time, encrypted ship-tracking solution that ensures uninterrupted visibility in even the most challenging maritime environments. Designed for high-risk operating regions including the Gulf of Guinea, Mercury delivers immediate positional updates and continues transmitting critical vessel data, even when AIS signals drop or go dark, a common occurrence in remote or hostile waters.
Kevin Aya, General Manager of Marine Operations at Tamrose, comments, “We continuously invest in technology that protects our crews and fleet, and delivers enhanced safety for our clients. Mercury has proven itself as a powerful addition already, especially in remote operations and complex regions where maintaining visibility is critical to safe and effective operations.”
By adopting Mercury fleet-wide, Tamrose strengthens its vessel security and operational oversight, reinforcing its position as a forward-thinking maritime operator in the West African region, focused on safety, transparency and reliability. The system caches data during signal outages and dark zones, and syncs automatically with the MariTrace interface when reconnected, ensuring no tracking information is lost.
Thomas Owen, CEO of MariTrace, adds, “Tamrose operates in some of the highest-risk territories globally, where conventional tracking is simply not enough. Mercury brings peace of mind knowing vessels are always trackable, even when traditional systems fail or cannot be used. We’re proud to support Tamrose’s mission with Mercury’s market-leading tracking, designed for resilience, confidentiality and operational continuity across its entire fleet.”
Mercury supports real-time global positioning updates at one-minute intervals (or more frequent where required), integrating seamlessly with onboard GPS and AIS data via NMEA 0183/2000. Authorised stakeholders, including operations managers, insurers and security teams, can securely access live and historical data through the MariTrace interface or API.
In addition to real-time tracking, Mercury’s integration with the MariTrace platform provides Tamrose with a full suite of maritime intelligence tools – including route risk analysis, geofencing alerts, maritime incident feeds and historical data. The result is a robust platform that supports not just fleet tracking, but also strategic decision-making, compliance and emergency readiness.
As security threats, piracy risks and regulatory pressures persist across West Africa’s maritime corridors, the need for resilient, intelligent vessel tracking has never been greater. MariTrace’s partnership with Tamrose sets a new benchmark for proactive fleet monitoring and control in high-risk waters – helping protect crews, cargo and vessel assets.
Designed by MariTrace in 2024, Mercury is a compact, plug-and-play tracking solution built to address the growing demands for vessel visibility, particularly in operating regions where security concerns and connectivity loss are prevalent, Mercury ensures uninterrupted situational awareness for owners, operators, insurers and partners.
Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Tamrose is a leading marine logistics and offshore support operator serving the Gulf of Guinea and wider West African region. The expert team combines deep local knowledge with internationally aligned standards, delivering safe, reliable and efficient operations in high-risk maritime environments.
