Jaipur: A 20-year-old woman preparing for competitive examinations allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself from the ceiling of her paying guest (PG) accommodation in the Bajaj Nagar police station area on Sunday. Police said no suicide note has been recovered, and an investigation is under way.
The deceased, identified as Nisha Meena, a native of Karauli, was living with her sister in a PG hostel at Basant Vihar Colony near Gopalpura. Both sisters were preparing for competitive exams and shared the same room. On Sunday afternoon, Nisha’s sister stepped out for some work. During her absence, Nisha allegedly took the extreme step.
“When the sister returned around 1.30 pm, she found the room locked from inside. Despite repeated calls and knocking, there was no response. The hostel owner alerted us, and on reaching the spot, we found the woman hanging from the ceiling,” a senior police officer said.
Police inspected the room, brought down the body and sent it to the SMS Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Efforts are on to ascertain the circumstances and reasons behind the incident.
