NEW DELHI: A pre-dawn landslide in Upper Rimbi, located in West Sikkim’s Yangthang constituency, claimed at least four lives on Friday and left three others missing.

According to Geyzing SP Tshering Sherpa, three people died on the spot. Two injured women were rescued by police, SSB personnel, and local villagers after a makeshift log bridge was built over the flooded Hume River to reach them.

Both victims were rushed to the District Hospital, where one succumbed to her injuries. The other remains in critical condition.

Search and rescue teams continue efforts to trace the three missing individuals.
