NEW DELHI: In a major security lapse, seven personnel have been suspended after a dummy bomb went undetected during a routine security drill at the Red Fort’s access control point in north Delhi.

The incident occurred last week as part of an internal security exercise designed to assess the vigilance of deployed forces. According to police sources, a test team was tasked with smuggling a mock explosive device into the premises to evaluate the effectiveness of security protocols.

Shockingly, the dummy bomb was successfully brought through the main gate of the iconic monument without being flagged by the on-duty officers. “The team managed to bypass all security checks, highlighting a serious gap in alertness and preparedness,” a senior official confirmed.

An internal investigation has been launched to examine the breach, even as the suspensions take effect.
