Russian fishermen have increased the pollock processing share by more than 2.5 times since the launch of the state incentive program in 2017. Fishing vessels, factory ships produced 193,700 tonnes of fish products in 2025.

The share of Russian pollock catches for the production of fillets and minced fish reached 37.5% by this year end versus 14% before the start of the ‘quotas-per-keel’ investment scheme, which encouraged businesses to build onshore fish processing plants and factory ships, Fishery Shipowners Association (FSA) said.

FSA expects that the share of ultra-processing of fish products will continue to grow with new capacities commissioning. However, this share is still far below that in the USA (main competitor of Russia in the pollock market), where up to 90% of catches are processed into fillets and minced fish, the association added.
