MUMBAI: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack on Thursday, condemning the assailants for killing innocent people after asking about their religion. He stressed that Hindus would never engage in such acts of violence.
“We hope for a strong response,” Bhagwat said at a public event, just three days after the deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 lives, most of whom were tourists. “People were killed based on their religion. Hindus would never do such a thing,” he added, calling the ongoing struggle one between “dharma and adharma.”
Expressing his sorrow and anger over the attack, the RSS chief said, “There is pain in our hearts. We are angry. But to destroy evil, we must show strength. Ravana refused to change, and there was no other choice but to confront him. Ram only killed him after offering him a chance to reform.”
Bhagwat also emphasized the importance of societal unity to prevent such tragedies and deter malicious intentions. “When we are united, no one will dare to harm us. And if they do, their intentions will be shattered. We hope for a strong response,” he said.
He further clarified the RSS stance, saying, “Hatred and hostility are not in our nature. But neither is quietly accepting harm. A truly non-violent person must also be strong. If there is no strength, there’s no choice. But when there is strength, it must be displayed when needed.”
