NAVI MUMBAI: Manorama Khedkar, mother of dismissed IAS officer Puja Khedkar, has been granted interim bail by a Belapur court on Tuesday in connection with the road rage–linked kidnapping case.
Manorama was booked by Rabale police for allegedly preventing officers from entering the Khedkar family’s Pune bungalow, where a truck helper abducted after a road rage incident was confined. She is also accused of destroying CCTV evidence, allegedly handing her bedroom key to an associate to remove the DVR. Police said the identity of this person is being traced.
According to police, Manorama’s husband Dilip Khedkar, the main accused, has not yet sought bail and remains absconding. A lookout circular (LOC) has been issued against Dilip, Manorama, and an unidentified aide.
Earlier, police rescued Prahlad Chauhan, helper of a cement mixer truck that had grazed Dilip’s SUV on the Mulund-Airoli bridge. Following the altercation, Dilip and his chauffeur Praful Salunkhe allegedly kidnapped Prahlad and confined him at the Khedkar bungalow in Aundh, Pune.
Salunkhe was arrested in Dhule after six days on the run. Police say Manorama obstructed officers during the rescue operation at the bungalow.
