Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Deshnok town in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district on May 22, marking his first visit to the Indo-Pak border region in the state and his second landing at an Indian Air Force base since India’s May 7 strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
During the visit, PM Modi will offer prayers at the Karni Mata temple and address a public rally. He will land at Nal airport, which doubles as an IAF station and was one of the sites targeted during the recent cross-border tensions.
Bikaner district shares a 168-kilometre-long border with Pakistan, while Deshnok lies approximately 200 kilometers from the international boundary. Sources suggest the Prime Minister may also interact with soldiers stationed along the border in a show of solidarity following Operation Sindoor.
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Rajasthan BJP President Madan Rathore, along with state ministers, are expected to arrive in Bikaner on Saturday to oversee rally preparations.
According to BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj, Prime Minister Modi will be accompanied by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal during the visit.
