CMA CGM has recorded a major leap in gender diversity at sea, with the number of women serving aboard its vessels more than doubling within a year under the Group’s She Sails initiative. Since the programme was launched in December 2024, the tally of women seafarers has climbed from about 200 to 403 by the close of 2025, marking growth of over 100% in just twelve months. Encouraged by this momentum, the French shipping major has now set an ambitious target of deploying 1,000 women at sea by 2030. The She Sails initiative aims to attract more women into maritime professions, highlight the breadth of career opportunities available across the CMA CGM Group, and provide guidance and encouragement to young women considering life at sea. A key element of the programme is creating platforms for women seafarers to share experiences, helping to inspire and support future entrants to the industry.’s ‘She Sails’ initiative drives sharp rise in women seafarers
