JAIPUR/NEW DELHI: A clerk posted at the Naval headquarters in New Delhi has been arrested by the Rajasthan Police’s intelligence wing for allegedly leaking sensitive defence information to a Pakistani handler during critical operations, including the recently concluded Operation Sindoor.

The accused, Vishal Yadav, hails from Punsika village in Rewari, Haryana, and was employed as an upper division clerk at the Directorate of Dockyard in Nausena Bhawan. According to officials, Yadav was in prolonged contact with a Pakistani operative using the alias “Priya Sharma,” communicating through various social media platforms.

Inspector General of Police (Security) Vishnukant Gupta said that Yadav’s espionage activities were uncovered during surveillance on individuals suspected of links to Pakistani intelligence networks. “He was found sharing classified and strategically vital information related to naval operations in exchange for money,” Gupta said.

Yadav was detained and jointly interrogated by multiple intelligence agencies at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur. Investigations revealed that he was heavily addicted to online gaming and had accumulated substantial financial debt. To clear his dues and support his gaming habits, he allegedly passed confidential documents to the handler and received payments via cryptocurrency (USDT) and traditional banking channels.

A forensic analysis of his mobile phone exposed incriminating evidence, including chats and document exchanges, clearly indicating a breach of national security. Officials confirmed that the leaked information included sensitive operational details of Operation Sindoor, which targeted cross-border terrorist infrastructure.

Following confirmation of the data leak, Yadav was arrested on Wednesday by the Rajasthan CID Intelligence under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, on charges of espionage. The investigation continues, with authorities probing the extent of the security breach and any additional individuals possibly linked to the network.
