AJMER: A devastating fire broke out at Hotel Naaz in Ajmer’s Diggi Bazaar on Thursday morning, leaving four people dead, including a woman and a child, and several others unconscious due to smoke inhalation and injuries, officials confirmed.

Emergency response teams, including firefighters, police personnel, and ambulances, rushed to the scene as flames quickly engulfed the hotel premises. Authorities managed to rescue at least five individuals, including a child, from the smoke-filled building.

City Fire Officer Jagdish Prasad told PTI, “Several victims were found unconscious, including a child. Two women sustained injuries and have been shifted to a hospital.”

Dr. Anil Samaria, Principal of JLN Medical College, said, “Four people—two men, a woman, and a child—have died from a combination of suffocation and burn injuries.”

Additional SP Himanshu Jangid said that rescue efforts were hampered by the narrow lane leading to the hotel, which delayed the movement of fire tenders and ambulances.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been sparked by a short circuit, though a full inquiry is underway.

One of the hotel guests, Mangila Kalosia, recounted the terrifying ordeal. “We heard a loud explosion and rushed to escape. A woman threw her child into my arms from a window. She was about to jump herself, but we stopped her,” he said.

Another guest reportedly jumped from a window to escape the blaze and suffered head injuries.

Authorities are continuing search and rescue operations and have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
