Agra: A desperate plea from a woman in Aligarh triggered a swift, high-stakes rescue operation on Tuesday, leading to the safe recovery of her kidnapped husband in Nagaland within four hours.
Nasreen, a resident of Loco Colony, Aligarh, approached SP (Rural) Amrit Jain after receiving a ransom call from her husband’s phone. The caller claimed that Khalid Ahmed (30), a clothes merchant in Nagaland, had been abducted by armed men who threatened to kill him unless ₹2.5 lakh was paid.
Rapid Police Response and Rescue Operation
SP Jain immediately launched an interstate operation, coordinating with Nagaland police despite no initial leads on the kidnappers’ location. A team was quickly formed under three IPS officers—Vaishali Jain, Nishant Jain, and Akash Sinha—who led four anti-extortion teams in a coordinated effort.
Using phone-tracing technology, police tracked the ransom call to Dimapur, Nagaland, though the exact location remained unknown, making the rescue risky. Officers stayed in constant communication with Ahmed’s family, employing negotiation tactics to stall the abductors while teams closed in.
Within four hours, Ahmed was rescued unharmed, and four suspects were detained.
Kidnapping Linked to Armed Insurgent Group
Initial investigations indicate the involvement of an armed insurgent group. The Nagaland Police have registered a case, and efforts are ongoing to safely bring Ahmed back to Aligarh.
Ahmed’s brother-in-law, Munazar Khan, expressed gratitude:
“The police in Nagaland and UP kept us informed at every step. We are extremely thankful for their swift action. I spoke to my brother-in-law, and he is safe.”
