INDORE: A 12-year-old girl, inspired by South Korean youth icons she followed on social media, attempted to set out for the country in search of “opportunities” without informing her parents. Indore police intercepted her at Sarwate Bus Stand on September 19 and safely reunited her with her family.

A bus driver spotted the girl wandering alone and alerted Chhoti Gwaltoli police. “Acting swiftly, a team reached the spot, brought the girl to the station, and questioned her. She revealed she had left home without her parents’ knowledge and wanted to travel to South Korea,” said station in-charge Sanju Kamble.

The girl initially claimed to be from Khargone district, but when no missing report was found there, she later disclosed that her family had recently shifted to Mhow. Verification confirmed her residence under Badgonda police station limits. Using local intelligence and community contacts, police traced her parents and handed her over safely.

Officials said the operation reflects an ongoing initiative to keep bus drivers, auto operators, and hotel staff alert to suspicious activity involving minors. Authorities praised the timely intervention of the bus driver that prevented a potential tragedy.
