Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Thursday announced a one-time 50% concession on pending fines issued through the Police Department’s mobile e-challan system. The relief will be available from August 23 to September 12, according to a government order dated August 21.
Mobile e-challans are digital traffic violation notices sent to violators via SMS or email. The government clarified that the concession will apply only to cases registered under the Police Department’s system, not those with the Transport Department prior to 2018-19, despite earlier requests for inclusion.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police said payments can be made through its official website (https://btp.gov.in/), mobile application, or at any traffic police station.
Chief minister Siddaramaiah urged citizens to clear dues within the window. In a post on X, he said: “Our government is committed to promoting road safety, law-abiding behavior, and public convenience. Make full use of this limited-time opportunity, pay your pending fines, and follow traffic rules.”
