JAMMU: The pilgrimage to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine, which had been suspended for the past three days due to heavy rainfall warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), is set to resume today (Wednesday).
A shrine board official shared on X: “Due to the inclement weather advisory from the IMD, the yatra remained suspended for the third consecutive day on Tuesday. It will resume on October 8. Devotees are advised to stay informed via official sources.”
Earlier, the pilgrimage was halted on August 26 after 34 people—mostly pilgrims—lost their lives in landslides near Ardhkuwari triggered by intense rainfall. The yatra had previously resumed on September 17.
