BAREILLY: An 11-year-old deaf and mute Dalit girl from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, was raped by an unnamed accused in “one of the most horrific sexual crimes” in recent memory. She was discovered on Wednesday with several injuries on her body, including bite marks and cigarette burn scars on her private areas.
After going to relieve herself in a field on Tuesday night, the girl—whose father is a marginal farmer from a community in the district—went missing.
Her family was quickly notified when a village resident discovered her unconscious, half-naked, and with her face swollen in a field around 500 meters from her house on Wednesday.
The girl’s medical examiner, Dr. Anju Singh said, “There were numerous injuries on her private areas, which clearly indicates that she was raped by one or more people. A blunt item had injured her face, causing it to swell.
There were bloodstains on the girl’s clothing. We sent her to a higher center after completing the medico-legal assessment. She couldn’t explain anything since she was so scared. It’s among the most horrifying sexual offenses I’ve ever witnessed. “My daughter is really scared,” the girl’s mother continued. Since the incident, she has been having fits.
Additional SP Atul Kumar Srivastava said an FIR has been registered based on the girl’s father’s complaint and three teams have been deployed to apprehend the accused. “We immediately sent the survivor to the hospital for treatment after learning about the incident. We are using CCTV footage and mobile surveillance data to track down the culprit,” he added.
