Severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds, wreaked havoc across Delhi and NCR on Friday, leading to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and flight delays. The Delhi Airport reported significant impacts on flight operations, urging passengers to check with airlines for updates.

In a statement on X, the airport said, “Due to thunderstorms and adverse weather, some flights have been impacted. Our ground staff is working closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth experience for passengers.”

Visuals from Khanpur highlighted vehicles struggling through knee-deep water, while gusty winds accompanied the downpour in other areas. On DDU Marg, commuter Mukesh shared with ANI that he had been stuck in traffic since 5 a.m. while trying to reach his office in Laxmi Nagar. “Although the rain has cooled things down, it’s caused significant delays. There was an accident, and traffic is badly affected,” he said, adding that waterlogging on the Connaught Place flyover added to the chaos.

Tragedy struck in Kharkhari Canal village, Dwarka, when a tree fell on a tubewell room during the storm, killing four people. The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Jyoti and her three children, were tragically caught under the falling tree. Jyoti’s husband, Ajay, sustained minor injuries.
