GWALIOR: Four Kanwar pilgrims lost their lives and several others were injured late Tuesday night after a speeding car rammed into a group of devotees walking along the Sheetla Mata highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district.

Chief Superintendent of Police Hina Khan confirmed the incident, stating, “We received information about a road accident involving Kanwar pilgrims on the Sheetla Mata highway. When police reached the location, three people were already dead. Three others with serious injuries were rushed to Jayarogya Hospital (JH), where one of them later succumbed during treatment.”

The victims hailed from Sidhauna village. According to initial investigations, a total of 13 people were part of the pilgrim group. “The families of the deceased told us that six people were injured, and four died. They said a vehicle was speeding when one of its tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control and hit the pilgrims walking by the roadside,” Khan said.

She added that the vehicle involved in the crash was recovered from the scene. “We have traced the vehicle and identified its owner. However, no arrests have been made yet as the driver has not been located,” she noted.
