NEW DELHI: India is implementing new protective measures to counter GPS spoofing incidents reported at multiple airports, Union aviation minister Rammohan Naidu informed Parliament on Monday. He said a few flights recently reported GPS spoofing near Delhi’s IGI Airport while approaching runway 10 using satellite-based landing procedures, prompting activation of contingency protocols.
Naidu said the DGCA had already issued an advisory in November 2023 to address GNSS interference in Indian airspace. Following the latest incidents near IGI, the regulator further strengthened safety protocols and, on November 10, released standard operating procedures for real-time reporting of such events.
The Airports Authority of India has also asked the Wireless Monitoring Organisation to trace the source of the interference or spoofing, he added.
