NEW DELHI: The Centre has allocated Rs 708 crore in financial assistance to Assam and Gujarat, which were severely affected by floods and landslides last year. Additionally, a special Rs 904 crore fund has been designated for Haryana, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh to modernize their fire services. These allocations were made by a high-level committee, chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah, under the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF).

For the current financial year (2025-26), the government has already disbursed over Rs 13,603 crore to 27 states through the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), and Rs 2,024 crore through the NDRF to 12 states. Furthermore, Rs 4,571 crore has been released from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states, and Rs 372 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre stands firmly with the states in times of natural calamities and disasters, providing all necessary support,” stated an official release.
