The Gothenburg region has been named the Nordic region’s best logistics location in the latest ranking by Swedish industry publication Dagens Logistik, according to its published motivation.
The assessment points to the Port of Gothenburg as the central hub for international imports and exports and a decisive factor behind the region’s logistics performance.
The port’s role has been strengthened over the past year through an expanded network of shipping services and continued rail development linking the port to inland destinations, resulting in record volumes in 2025, increased market shares and a reinforced position as a hub for Nordic trade with global markets, said Jacob Minnhagen, senior market development manager at the Port of Gothenburg.
The ranking evaluated the versatility, accessibility and sustainability of logistics infrastructure, including roads, railways, ports, air cargo airports and intermodal terminals.
It also assessed freight flows to and through the region, conditions for imports and exports, proximity to population centres and consumer markets, as well as the availability of logistics expertise, labour, research and education.
Minnhagen said cooperation with Swedavia Landvetter Airport, Business Region Gothenburg and other regional stakeholders continues to support growing interest in logistics establishments both around the port and across the wider region.
The Port of Gothenburg is highlighted as a logistics hub for the Nordic region, serving both imports and exports. The port hosts the region’s largest container port and car/ro-ro operations and is supported by an extensive rail network, complemented by road, rail and air connections.
The ranking has been published for 26 years, with the Gothenburg region placed first on 25 occasions.
Since 2024, the scope has been expanded from Sweden to the Nordic region. The Öresund and Stockholm regions ranked second and third this year, followed by Oslo, the Baltics, Helsinki, Jönköping, Bothnian Bay and Central Jutland in Denmark.
Port of Gothenburg is a full-service seaport in western Sweden providing continuous access to global shipping routes. Its operations cover containers, vehicles, ro-ro units and energy products, supported by a nationwide rail shuttle system connecting inland markets in Sweden and Norway.
