NEW DELHI: Panic gripped the capital again on Thursday as at least five schools, including BGS International Public School in Dwarka Sector 5, reported receiving bomb threats. Police and fire teams rushed to the institutions, cordoned off the premises, and deployed bomb disposal squads with sniffer dogs and detection equipment. Ambulances and fire tenders were stationed outside as precaution.

The fresh alerts follow Wednesday’s mass scare, when over 60 schools were evacuated after receiving nearly identical hoax threats. Officials said the latest emails closely resembled those, traced to a sender using a VPN to mask identity.

Investigators revealed the first such email, sent late Tuesday night to more than 380 addresses, demanded $2,000 in cryptocurrency (Ethereum) and claimed bombs were planted in schools. The sender, identifying as “Terrorizers 111 group,” threatened to detonate explosives if payment was not made.

Authorities confirmed all schools checked so far have been safe but said all emergency protocols remain in force. “Even if these appear to be hoaxes, we cannot take risks when children’s safety is involved,” a senior police officer said.

This is the third wave of threats in four days, after hoax emails on Monday targeted 32 schools. The repeated scares have triggered alarm among parents and raised concerns over cybersecurity gaps and the psychological toll on students.
