Rohtak: Four cousins, including the son of a local Congress leader, died in a tragic accident on Saturday when their car rammed into a stationary road-roller along National Highway 44 near Gohana in Haryana’s Sonipat district.

The deceased include Somveer, son of Balwan Ranga, president of Congress’s Rohtak (rural) unit. His cousins—Ankit, Lokesh, and Deepankar—also died on the spot. The group was returning from a business meeting related to their tile venture when the accident occurred, just 15 km from their village, said Congress urban district president Kuldeep KD.

Police said the vehicle lost control before crashing into the road-roller, which was parked on the roadside.

Local sarpanch Anil blamed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for negligence, alleging that no warning signs or barricades had been placed at the construction site to alert drivers.
