NEW DELHI: A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Mumbai was forced to return to the terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Monday after two women onboard became unruly during taxiing. The passengers were offloaded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), officials said.
According to sources, the altercation between the two women began shortly after the aircraft began taxiing. The situation escalated when they attempted to approach the cockpit, prompting concern among fellow passengers and the cabin crew, who repeatedly urged them to return to their seats and remain calm so that the flight could proceed.
Even after the captain made an announcement instructing them to comply, the passengers refused to cooperate. As the disturbance persisted, the pilot made the decision to return the aircraft to the bay for safety reasons.
“On July 14, 2025, two unruly passengers were offloaded from SpiceJet flight SG 9282 operating from Delhi to Mumbai. The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit and caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxiing. Despite repeated requests by the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the captain, they refused to return to their seats. In the interest of the safety of all passengers and crew, the captain decided to return the aircraft to the bay, and the passengers were offloaded. They were subsequently handed over to the CISF,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said.
The flight resumed operations after the disruptive passengers were removed.
