NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik four weeks to respond to the National Investigation Agency’s plea seeking to enhance his life sentence to the death penalty in a terror funding case.

Malik, chief of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), had earlier sought to argue his case against the NIA’s appeal but was not produced virtually from Tihar Jail as scheduled.

A bench of Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Shalinder Kaur noted the absence of both Malik’s reply and his virtual appearance, and directed jail authorities to ensure he is produced online for the next hearing on November 10.
