NEW DELHI: Panic gripped parts of the capital on Monday after several schools received bomb threats via email, prompting immediate evacuations and large-scale security checks.

Among those targeted were Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Modern Convent School, and ShreeRam World School in Sector 10, Dwarka. Police teams, along with bomb disposal squads, were rushed to the spots to carry out extensive searches.

Authorities said while past threats have turned out to be hoaxes, today’s alerts are being treated with utmost seriousness. “All security protocols are being followed,” officials confirmed.

Similar incidents were reported in July when multiple schools — including Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, Sovereign School in Rohini, Modern International School in Dwarka Sector 19, and Heritage School in Rohini Sector 23 — received identical threats. Colleges under Delhi University, such as IP College for Women, Hindu College, and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), were also targeted at that time.

Recalling the July scare, Richmond Global School principal Moupali Mitra said, “We received the mail threat at 10.52 am and informed police within minutes. The bomb squad and cyber department responded immediately. The premises were declared safe after thorough checks. Such rumours are spread by anti-social elements, and we must stand united against them.”

In Monday’s case, the Delhi Fire Department and police personnel have been deployed at all affected institutions. So far, no explosives have been found, but officials said monitoring will continue until the situation is fully secured.
