COSCO Shipping Development has taken delivery of Guo Yun Hai, an 80,000-dwt multi-purpose grain carrier built by Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, marking the first large-scale vessel of its type developed and constructed in China for grain transport, according to China Classification Society.
The ship was delivered on April 8 following completion of classification surveys, with the project positioned as a domestic milestone in the development of high-capacity grain carriers designed and built within China.
The vessel is a new-generation multi-purpose unit tailored for bulk grain trades, with design and development carried out independently in China, highlighting efforts to strengthen domestic capabilities in large-scale cargo vessel construction.
COSCO Shipping Development confirmed the naming and delivery of Guo Yun Hai and said the vessel successfully completed sea trials prior to handover at the Dalian yard.
