Chennai: A 31-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her live-in partner to death following suspicions of an extramarital affair in Oragadam, police said on Saturday.
The accused, Faridha Begam, originally from Guwahati, had been living with Imran Syed (31), a native of Assam who worked as a loadman at a private factory.
According to police, the couple frequently quarreled in recent months after Syed reportedly grew close to another woman. On Thursday night, a heated argument broke out when Begam confronted him. In a fit of rage, she allegedly stabbed Syed multiple times with a knife.
Syed succumbed to his injuries on Friday night. Police initially registered a case of attempted murder, which will now be altered to murder following his death. Begam has been taken into custody.
