GUARAPUAVA, BRAZIL: A 20-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances aboard a passenger bus in southern Brazil, with authorities discovering 26 iPhones strapped to her body after her death.

The woman reportedly began convulsing and experiencing breathing difficulties during the journey through Guarapuava in Paraná state. Emergency medical personnel were called to assist but were unable to revive her after 45 minutes of CPR. She was declared dead on the scene.

Phones Glued to Her Body

Upon examining her body, Military Police found the 26 iPhones glued or taped tightly to her torso, sparking suspicions of smuggling. However, no drugs were detected after a sniffer dog inspection.

Her luggage contained several bottles of alcohol, which were confiscated and will also be examined as part of the investigation, The Sun reported.

Investigation Underway

Forensic teams from the Scientific and Civil Police were called in. Authorities are currently awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death.

In a brief statement, Paraná Civil Police said:

“The Paraná Civil Police are investigating the case and awaiting the conclusion of forensic reports to clarify the cause of death.”

The seized iPhones have been handed over to Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service, which is expected to investigate whether they were part of an illegal smuggling operation.

As of now, the woman’s identity has not been publicly released, and officials are not ruling out any possibilities, including medical reaction, alcohol-related complications, or a smuggling-related incident gone wrong.
