BHOPAL: A 21-year-old videographer from Govindpura was allegedly held hostage, assaulted, stripped, and blackmailed after being called to film a Ganesh idol procession in Bag Sewania locality on the night of September 3–4, police said.
According to SI Veermani Pandey, the youth had demanded ₹1,500 as payment when the accused turned violent. He was confined in a room from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., beaten, stripped, and filmed by three men, who also snatched his two mobile phones. The accused then allegedly demanded ₹20,000 for their return.
The victim managed to escape, sought medical help, and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case of assault, extortion, and wrongful confinement. Two accused have been arrested, while a third remains absconding. One of those arrested has a prior criminal record, including a murder case.
