Bengaluru: A 26-year-old employee of Biocon allegedly died after jumping from the fifth floor of the company’s building on Hosur Road in Electronics City Phase II on Tuesday. The motive behind the incident is yet to be determined, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Anant Kumar, a resident of Banashankari in south Bengaluru. His father, Srinath, is a temple priest. An engineering graduate, Anant had been working in Biocon’s finance department for the past six months, according to the police.
Investigators said the canteen is located on the fifth floor of the building. “Anant was seen talking on his mobile phone while walking out of the canteen. He then went to the terrace and jumped. No suicide note was found,” an officer said. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
In a brief statement, Biocon said: “As the matter is currently under investigation by the authorities, we are unable to share further details at this stage.”
