BENGALURU: A 34-year-old construction labourer has accused the owner of an under-construction building of sexually harassing her on December 1. The woman’s husband, who works as a mason at the same site, filed a complaint with the Chikkajala police on Tuesday.
According to the 35-year-old complainant from Rajanukunte, the building owner—estimated to be around 40 years old—also assaulted him with a hollow brick when he confronted the owner for allegedly misbehaving with his wife. The complainant sustained a forehead injury in the incident.
In his statement, he said the couple arrived at the site around 4pm on December 1, where other labourers were arranging construction materials. The owner had gone to the first floor to supervise the ongoing work. The incident reportedly occurred when the woman went to fetch a hollow brick, during which the owner allegedly grabbed her and attempted to disrobe her. She resisted and raised an alarm.
Hearing her cries, her husband rushed to confront the owner, leading to a heated altercation in which he was allegedly struck with the brick. As he began bleeding, co-workers immediately took him to a hospital in Rajanukunte for treatment.
A senior police officer said the accused is constructing a two-storey building. “We are verifying the allegations made by the complainant. A notice has been issued to the owner directing him to appear for interrogation,” the officer added.
