On Friday, the roof of Piplodi Primary School in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, collapsed, resulting in the deaths of at least four students and injuries to several others. Rescue operations are currently in progress as emergency teams rush to the scene.

“3-4 students have died due to the roof collapse at Piplodi Primary School in Jhalawar. Many students are injured. Upon receiving the report, Jhalawar Collector and SP Amit Kumar Budania proceeded to the location,” news agency ANI reported, quoting SP Jhalawar Amit Kumar.

A video from the incident site, shared by news agency PTI, depicts scenes of chaos as residents attempt to clear the debris. A bulldozer is present at the site, aiding in the rescue efforts. Hundreds of individuals have gathered around the collapsed building, with numerous locals trying to manually remove fallen bricks in a desperate effort to rescue those trapped beneath.

17 injured students have been taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. Footage from the hospital shows medical personnel attending to the children while anxious families wait outside.
