Tirupati: In a bizarre and horrifying incident, a man in Thottambedu mandal, Tirupati district, bit off the head of a venomous snake after it attacked him, before collapsing hours later from the spreading venom.
The victim, identified as Venkatesh, was reportedly intoxicated while returning home late Thursday night when he was bitten by a black krait, one of India’s most lethal snakes. Enraged and under the influence of alcohol, he allegedly caught the reptile and bit off its head, killing it instantly.
He then carried the dead snake home, placed it beside his bed, and fell asleep. By Friday morning, his condition deteriorated rapidly, prompting his family to rush him to the government area hospital in Srikalahasti, and later to SVRR Government General Hospital in Tirupati for advanced care.
Doctors say his condition remains critical. The incident has left locals in Chiyyavaram village stunned, with many calling it both shocking and unbelievable.
