ALWAR: In a gruesome case of superstition-fueled violence, a five-year-old boy in Sarai village, under the Mundawar police station in Khairthal district, was killed by his uncle in an alleged occult ritual meant to bring back the man’s estranged wife, police said on Tuesday.
Mundawar Station House Officer (SHO) Mahavir Singh confirmed that the child, identified as Lokesh, was found dead inside a hay-covered structure in the village three days ago. When police reached the scene, the boy’s uncle, Manoj, was present.
Following an investigation, Manoj was arrested on Monday. During questioning, he confessed to the killing and revealed a chilling motive. According to police, Manoj said that Lokesh was his wife’s nephew, and he had targeted the boy as part of a black magic ritual suggested by a local tantric.
Manoj reportedly told police that after a domestic dispute, his wife had left him and gone to her parents’ home. Despite repeated efforts, she refused to return. Desperate, Manoj sought the help of an occult practitioner, Sunil Kumar, who allegedly demanded ₹12,000, a child’s blood, and a human sacrifice to perform a ritual that would “bring back” his wife.
On Saturday afternoon, Manoj lured Lokesh with the promise of buying him sweets and took him to an abandoned house. There, he killed the child and hid the body under a pile of hay. Before leaving, he used a syringe to draw blood from various parts of the child’s body to be used in the ritual.
SHO Singh said that the syringe used in the crime has been recovered and the sorcerer, Sunil Kumar, has also been arrested for his role in abetting the murder.
The case has sparked shock and outrage in the community, highlighting the dark consequences of blind faith and superstition.
