Delhi Police have arrested three people, including former Delhi Technological University (DTU) student Yashraj Bajpai, for allegedly running a fake admission racket.
Bajpai allegedly impersonated a university staff member and promised admission to prospective students. A complainant was reportedly cheated of around ₹8.5 lakh after being assured admission for her daughter.
The other accused, Sonu alias Yuvraj and Devender Singh, were arrested in Bhopal on October 26. Police said the gang had been using fake websites and online advertisements for over a year to target families.
An SIT is investigating the case to trace the cheated money, identify other victims and uncover the accused’s roles. DTU has warned students against admissions offered through fake advertisements or donations.
