Severe cyclonic storm Murasu is approaching the Andhra Pradesh coast over the Bay of Bengal, just days after Cyclone Arnab caused widespread damage in the region.

The storm is expected to make landfall between Nellore and Narsapur in the early hours of November 3, with wind speeds of 100–110 kmph and gusts up to 120 kmph.

Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha have stepped up preparedness, with authorities organising relief and rescue operations, issuing alerts and evacuating vulnerable residents.

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is forecast across parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, while Tamil Nadu is expected to receive heavy rainfall in several districts. Odisha has issued high alerts in southern districts and directed evacuations from vulnerable areas.

Officials have warned of potential power infrastructure damage in Andhra Pradesh, with nearly 15,128 electricity poles across 12 districts at risk.

Meanwhile, Odisha continues to assess the impact of Cyclone Arnab, which affected over 1.18 lakh people, damaged 1,672 houses and impacted more than 75,000 hectares of agricultural land.
