Several schools in Noida and Greater Noida received bomb threat emails on Monday, prompting extensive security checks by police and emergency response teams across Gautam Budh Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. Officials said no suspicious objects had been found during the searches so far.
The threats came to light early Monday when school administrations received emails warning of possible bomb attacks. The schools immediately alerted the police, following which multiple teams were deployed to inspect the premises and ensure the safety of students and staff.
Bomb Squad, Dog Squad Deployed at Schools
According to police officials, teams from the bomb disposal squad, dog squad and anti-sabotage check (ASC) unit conducted thorough searches at the affected schools. Senior police officers also accompanied the teams during the security operations.
Abhay Kumar Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida), said searches were being conducted at all the schools that reported receiving the threats. He confirmed that no suspicious objects had been discovered at the time of reporting.
Authorities did not disclose the exact number of schools that received the emails, citing concerns about creating unnecessary panic among students and parents.
Classes to Resume After Security Checks
Police officials said classes were being resumed following the completion of security checks to minimise disruption to academic activities.
Santosh Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida), said the checks were being carried out in a manner intended to prevent panic among students while ensuring that the premises were thoroughly inspected.
The Gautam Budh Nagar Police stated that local police teams responded promptly after receiving information about the threats. The fire brigade also assisted the teams during the operation.
Cyber Team Investigating Threat Emails
The police cyber team is examining the threatening emails to establish their origin and identify those responsible. The Cybercrime Branch is expected to register a case as the investigation proceeds.
In an official statement, the police said the situation remained normal and law and order were under control. Authorities also urged the public not to believe or circulate unverified information about the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing their efforts to determine the source and credibility of the threat emails.
