The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 62.50 from October 1, taking the revised price to Rs 2,810. The increase follows a Rs 9.50 rise recorded in September, when the cylinder was priced at Rs 2,747.50.
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have also increased, rising by approximately Rs 16 per litre, from Rs 121 to Rs 137 per litre.
Meanwhile, a new requirement for domestic LPG consumers has come into effect from October 1, 2026. Consumers seeking to purchase domestic LPG refills at the regulated retail selling price with applicable subsidy must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA).
The authentication process is intended to ensure that subsidised LPG is provided to eligible households. It is also designed to help prevent the diversion of subsidised domestic cylinders for commercial or industrial purposes, identify duplicate or ineligible connections, and improve the targeting and transparency of subsidy distribution.
Consumers who have already completed biometric authentication do not need to repeat the process and can continue booking refills normally.
Those who have not yet completed the authentication can continue to access subsidised refills after completing the required verification.
How consumers can complete authentication
Biometric Aadhaar Authentication can be completed through several channels. During LPG delivery, the delivery personnel may be able to complete the process at the customer’s doorstep using the relevant oil marketing company’s mobile application.
Consumers can also visit their LPG distributor’s showroom to complete the verification.
Alternatively, the process can be completed from home through the respective LPG provider’s mobile application. Available options include IndianOil ONE for Indane customers, HelloBPCL for Bharatgas customers, and HP PAY for HP Gas customers.
Consumers who are unable or unwilling to complete biometric authentication can still obtain LPG. However, they must register their preference through available digital channels, such as the consumer portal, mobile application, WhatsApp chatbot or IVRS.
In such cases, LPG will be supplied at the applicable market price without subsidy. Depending on availability, consumers may receive 5-kg or 10-kg cylinders.
Consumers who have not yet completed the authentication process can use any of the available channels to complete the requirement.
