Days after a Class 10 girl was allegedly harassed and molested by a group of youths in Jamui, a fresh case of alleged molestation has surfaced in Samastipur.

In this latest incident, four men were arrested on Thursday after a 56-second video showing a girl allegedly being harassed in public went viral. The incident occurred Wednesday on Dam Bypass Road in Jagatsinghpur village, under Karpurigram police station jurisdiction. Police said all four men seen in the video were arrested from their homes.

The footage shows the girl surrounded by a group of young men, one repeatedly grabs her arm as she tries to pull away, while another allegedly attempts to strike her. The girl can be heard pleading with them to let her go and threatening to call her brother, to which one of the men allegedly responds, “Okay, call him.”

According to police, the girl had been out with a boy and stopped along the bypass road to take photographs when local youths approached and began harassing them. The incident was filmed on a mobile phone and later spread on social media.

Jamui girl allegedly harassed after coaching class

The Samastipur case follows a similar incident some days earlier in Jamui, where a Class 10 girl was allegedly harassed and molested on the road by a group of youths, who reportedly recorded the incident as well — two clips of which went viral on Monday.

That incident occurred Saturday, when the girl had gone to Marwa Pahad with a male classmate after coaching classes. While returning on a scooter in the evening, a group of youths allegedly stopped them, forced them off the vehicle, and began abusing and interrogating them. Video footage showed the girl allegedly being touched inappropriately, while her classmate was also allegedly manhandled. The two reportedly tried to flee but were chased and assaulted, with the ordeal lasting around 15-20 minutes before they escaped.

Jamui police later traced the students, recorded their statements, and filed an FIR based on the girl’s written complaint. Officers said seven to eight individuals had been identified from the footage, with three minors detained so far and raids ongoing to catch the rest.

The case has been registered under Sections 74, 76, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act. A special investigation team, led by SDPO Deepti Monali, has been formed to probe the case. Jamui SP Vishwajit Dayal said police have identified those visible in the videos and are reviewing evidence to determine each individual’s role.
