ISRO successfully launched the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket from Sriharikota on Friday, marking another major milestone for India’s space programme.
The 51.7-metre-tall rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 2:55 am after a 27.5-hour countdown. About 19 minutes after launch, EOS-05 separated from the launch vehicle and was successfully placed into its intended sub-geosynchronous orbit.
ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan described the mission as a significant achievement, highlighting the country’s growing capabilities in launching heavy Earth-observation satellites.
