India and China have reached an eight-point consensus following the 25th round of Special Representatives’ talks held in Beijing between India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and stability along the border and agreed to push forward negotiations aimed at resolving the boundary issue.
As part of the understanding, India and China agreed to establish two additional Border Personnel Meeting points and two new military hotline channels covering the Eastern and Middle Sectors. The measures are intended to strengthen communication between the two militaries and help prevent misunderstandings along the Line of Actual Control.
India also welcomed China’s decision to facilitate additional batches of pilgrims for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The two sides further agreed to reopen three border trading points, a move expected to support greater cross-border economic and people-to-people engagement.
The latest consensus marks another step in efforts by New Delhi and Beijing to stabilise ties, maintain peace along the frontier and keep diplomatic channels open for further progress on the long-standing boundary dispute.
