Nalgonda: A 48-year-old school principal was found stabbed to death at her residence in Telangana’s Nalgonda district, with police suspecting that people known to her may be behind the attack.
The victim was identified as Kallu Roopa Reddy, principal and director of Nagarjuna Grammar English Medium School in Kondamallepally.
The incident came to light on Wednesday at JB Colony in Kondamallepally mandal. Roopa Reddy had travelled to Hyderabad with her husband, Kallu Rajender Reddy, during a three-day holiday. She returned alone on Tuesday morning and attended school before going home in the evening.
According to police, Roopa Reddy had told colleagues that some friends were expected to visit her at home. When she failed to attend school the following day and her husband was unable to contact her, he asked tenants staying at their residence to check on her.
After they received no response, Rajender Reddy contacted a nearby police officer. The officer, accompanied by neighbours, entered the house and found Roopa Reddy lying in a pool of blood.
Police later examined the scene with a dog squad. Officials said the victim had suffered multiple stab injuries. No cash or valuables were reported missing from the house, making robbery an unlikely motive at this stage.
Devarakonda Deputy Superintendent of Police M V Srinivas Rao said investigators are examining whether people familiar with the victim were involved. Family disputes and other possible motives are also being investigated.
A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Roopa Reddy’s son, Abhinav Reddy. Police said further investigation is underway to identify the accused and establish the motive behind the killing.
